Central Health has been honored with a Silver Award from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, after applying for its Leadership Circle program last month. The program recognizes Texas public agencies that actively pursue financial transparency and meet a high level of standardized criteria.
According to the Comptroller’s office, the program recognizes agencies that are, “Opening their books to the public, providing clear, consistent pictures of spending, and sharing information in a user-friendly format that lets taxpayers easily drill down for more information.”
“In our ongoing commitment to financial transparency we sought this review from the Comptroller’s office and are extremely pleased at the outcome. Our objective is to allow the taxpayers clear insight into how their dollars are invested back into the community,” Central Health Board Chairperson Rosie Mendoza said.
In order to meet the program’s criteria, Central Health re-organized its financial information online. The information, ranging from annual budgets to financial audits and annual reports, as well as the most recent tax and revenue/expenditure and other information, is now available on a single, easy to locate page. This financial transparency page is linked from the homepage at www.CentralHealth.net, and is also accessible directly at www.CentralHealth.net/finance/.
Central Health is the only hospital district in Texas to receive this award.
