The Central Health Board of Managers on Monday, Nov. 19 canvassed the ballot of the Nov. 6 election for Proposition 1, completing the final step to ratifying the election.
Travis County voters cast on Nov. 6 a total of 187,021 (54.72%) votes for and 154,753 (45.28%) against Proposition 1. The additional tax of .05 cents per $100 of assessed property valuation will go into effect in the fall of 2013, with payments due in January of 2014.
“This is truly a great day for Travis County, and I just want to make sure we properly thank our staff and everyone who worked so hard on Proposition 1 all of these long months, including our partner agencies and especially the voters, who believed as we do that the health of the entire community is a top priority,” Board Chairperson Rosie Mendoza said.
