$1M Dell med school infusion aims to revamp physicians’ education

Houston-based Episcopal Health Foundation has donated $1 million to the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas for the specific purpose of training physicians. The catch is, however, this training will focus on how to care for patients’ overall health, not just the volume of services provided and billed to a patient.

Staff at the Sandra Joy Anderson Community Health and Wellness Center on the Huston-Tillotson campus have been treating patients without a proper clinic. This all changes on January 19th, however, when the university officially holds a grand opening for its new clinic and welcomes the community.
Medicare unveils 121 networks of doctors, hospitals to improve chronic care for 8.9M patients

Medicare recently announced that it’s expanding efforts to keep seniors healthier by coordinating basic medical care to prevent common problems that lead to ER overuse. Officials announced 121 new “accountable care organizations,” essentially networks of doctors and hospitals ready to collaborate and better serve patients with chronic medical conditions.
