With health law sign-ups closing Jan. 31, administration seeks strong finish for 2016

Reports indicate that 11.3 million people have enrolled for health law coverage with three weeks still left in the ACA’s sign-up season. With a recent independent study indicating that the uninsured rate among adults didn’t change in 2015, efforts are picking up as the end draws near for sign-ups.


 

Poor healthcare apps could cost hospitals $100 million a year, Accenture says

Although 66 of the 100 largest hospitals in the United States offer consumers mobile health apps, only 2 percent of patients are using them, according to a new report from Accenture. The concern is that the failure of these apps may cost hospitals more than $100 million a year in lost revenue.


 

New year accelerates pace of change in nation’s flagship health care program

Today, Medicare, the nation’s flagship health-care program, is seeking better ways to balance cost, quality, and access in response to the modern challenges of our healthcare delivery system. So far, changes include Medicare paying clinicians to counsel patients about options for care at the end of life, and for the first time, beneficiaries will be able to pick an Accountable Care Organization.

Notice: The Travis County Healthcare District d/b/a Central Health adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 6.0 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $6.18 (six dollars and eighteen cents).
