Central Health celebrates start of Dell Medical School construction

April 21, 2014

Central Health Chairperson Brenda Coleman-Beattie, along with The University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers, Senator Kirk Watson, Seton Healthcare Family President & CEO Jesus Garza, and Dell Medical School Dean Dr. Clay Johnston, marked the start of construction of the new Dell Medical School with a public celebration on Monday, April 21.

Speaking to several hundred attendees, including physicians, students, community leaders, health care advocates, and community members, Ms. Coleman-Beattie said, “I cannot imagine a better partner to help this community meet its growing health care needs than the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. And this community has shown its support for the medical school through the ballot box and with its tax dollars. We have a bright future here in Travis County and Central Texas, and the Dell Medical School is an essential partner in realizing a future with lower health disparities, access to high-quality cost efficient care and greater overall population health for the entire community.”

As part of the launch of this community project, you can contribute words and phrases summarizing your hopes for what the Dell Medical School will mean for Austin and Central Texas. The University of Texas will choose appropriate submissions to be incorporated into the school’s design and decoration. Submit your suggestions using the social media links below, or you can email them.

For all of the latest updates, follow the Dell Medical School on Twitter @DellMedSchool or like on Facebook at Dell Medical School.

Thank you for your support of the Dell Medical School. This is the start of something big.
