Gynecologic Oncology Clinic
Scope
- To evaluate and treat newly diagnosed, recurrent or previously treated gynecologic cancers (e.g. Uterine, Cervical, Ovarian, Vulvar, Vaginal, Gestational Trophoblastic Diseases).
- To evaluate and treat pelvic masses suspicious for malignancy
- To evaluate and treat patients at elevated risk for gynecologic malignancy (inclusive of: hereditary genetic syndromes such as BRCA and HNPCC, as well as lesions determined to be carcinoma in situ).
Appropriate patients for referral include:
- Any invasive gynecologic cancer, newly diagnosed or recurrent
- Pelvic masses suspicious for invasive gynecologic cancer
- Patients receiving treatment for their gynecologic cancer
- Patients needing surveillance for their gynecologic cancer
- BRCA or HNPCC (Lynch) positive patients
- VIN III (carcinoma in situ)
- CIN III (carcinoma in situ)
- AIS (adenocarcinoma in situ)
- VAIN
Do NOT refer the following patients (Unless there has been a doctor to doctor consult and is approved by the Gyn/Onc clinic physician):
- Any low-risk pre-invasive cancers
- CIN I, II
- VIN I, II
- HGSIL or LGSIL on pap smear (without a histologic diagnosis)
- Fibroids
- Simple ovarian cyst
- Documentation required for scheduling an appointment:
- History and physical with documented gynecologic examination
- Current medication list and comorbidities
- Most recent Pap Test results **If clinically indicated, i.e. patient has a cervix**
- Most recent imaging report and/or images
- If already diagnosed, pathology confirming cancer diagnosis
- If previously treated for diagnosis, send all oncology notes and all treatment records (chemotherapy records, surgical records, radiation records)
- Additional information needed for Ovarian Cancer:
- Any pertinent abdominal or pelvic imaging
- CA125 results
- Supporting documentation for recurrence if suspected
- If metastatic disease present, send supporting documentation for metastatic locations.
- Additional information needed for Endometrial, Cervical, and Uterine Cancers:

- Pathology report for any suspected endometrial, cervical, or uterine cancers
- Most recent Pap Test results for suspected or confirmed endometrial cancer
- Any pertinent abdominal or pelvic imaging
- If metastatic disease present, send supporting documentation for metastatic locations.
- Supporting documentation for recurrence if suspected
- Additional information needed for pelvic masses suspicious for invasive cancer:
- CT Scan or Ultrasound confirming mass
- CA125
- BRCA positive patients:
- BRCA results
- Any breast, abdominal, or pelvic imaging done
- CA125
- Any surgical reports related to BRCA results (mastectomy/oophorectomy)
