Good Bites Offers Morsels of Food, Knowledge to Travis County Residents

October 31, 2022

(Austin) – Take one dollop of good nutrition, add a dash of smart shopping, and sprinkle in some delicious recipes.

That’s the basis for “Good Bites,” Central Health’s new video and blog series that will provide Travis County residents not only with new and healthier ways to prepare meals, but also tricks to maximize dollars at the grocery store.

Launching Oct. 28, registered dietitian and nutrition expert Leslie Goudarzi will offer Medical Access Program (MAP) members in English and Spanish a variety of weekly tips on how to improve their lives through better eating.

Among her offerings:

  • Tips on healthy eating habits for any generation. Viewers will be able to learn about portion sizes, ingredients and more.
  • Delicious recipes that are quick and easy to make.
  • How to stretch your money at the supermarket.
  • Special diets for residents with different health conditions.

Travis County residents often face challenges such as food deserts, rising inflation, and chronic health issues endemic to the area. Clinical nutrition is a key part of Central Health’s recently adopted Health Equity Plan.
“It a passion of mine to be able to provide healthy, affordable, and most importantly, simple nutrition solutions that promote well-being and longevity,” she said. “I am excited about the opportunity share my nutrition knowledge in a fun and creative way.”
