Sendero Health Plans free summer lunch program

July 17, 2015

image004Our partner Sendero Health Plans has had amazing success with their Summer Food Services Program at the Southeast Health & Wellness Center. After an official inspection by the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, the inspector reported he was extremely pleased with the program and had no issues to discuss or critical feedback to offer.

Kudos to all the Sendero, CommUnityCare and Central Health team members involved in this effort!

What is the Summer Food Services Program? Free lunch for children and their parents or guardians is offered each weekday from 11am to 1pm at the Southeast Health & Wellness Center. A weekend staples bag is provided to each family on Fridays.

Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch during the school year often miss out on adequate nutrition when school is out for the summer. Through the program, Sendero is feeding about 40 children and adults each day who are members of Sendero Health Plans or just part of the community.

If you would like to volunteer please feel free to join us at the SEHWC on any day that you have time to help. Call (512) 978-8452 if you have any questions. — at Southeast Health & Wellness Center.
